This sculpture is made from old news papers and card board. It's inspired by all the underwater creators I have seen during my diving trips here in Sabah. The pattern is loosely inspired on a Mandarin fish. But as this is a much bigger fish (it is approximate 35 cm high and 60 cm long) I thought i would call in Orange; which is Jingga in the Malaysian language. Painted and varnished with Amsterdam / Expert acrylics and varnish from Royal Talens
This torso is standing 55 cm tall. The pattern is inspired on the traditional ladies dress in Sabah. It took me a long time to complete this sculpture made from paper and recycling different pieces: some plastic (for bas structure), stones (for weight and balance) and some 50 ringgit cent coins for the top belt; called a himpogot (coin belt) and the bottom one is painted and represents a tangkong (a very heavy brass ring belt) which are a sign of the wearer's wealth. Painted and varnished with Amsterdam / Expert acrylics and varnish from Royal Talens
This torso is standing 68 cm tall. The pattern is inspired on antique beaded Dayak Iban wedding skirt I once saw. It took me a long time to complete this sculpture made from paper and recycling different pieces of plastic (for bas structure) and stones (for weight and lance). Painted and varnished with Amsterdam Expert acrylics from Royal Talens.
Just created another cat. How a love cats (and tigers, and anything wild or domestic in this category). Her tail is pointing up almost 80 cm into the sky while the pattern is partly inspired on an Art-Deco dress I saw on display in a museum. Painted and varnished with Amsterdam acrylics from Royal Talens.
This cat was one of the first I ever made and went to the Netherlands. After 8 years it returned to me and I had the opportunity to repaint it.
