Use of Materials
My real love is making sculptures using old newspapers (to make paper pulp), paper clay, cardboard and othery recycled materials.
Working three-dimensional is so much more inspiring than a flat canvas to start with. But because the time it takes to create a sculpture (the amount of layers and drying time between layers and of paper pulp) it is great to be able to work on a canvas too and paint some expressionist art.
And sometimes I even use a wall as my canvas.
The recipe for making paper pulp for my sculptures is my own and is been tested and changed until I created the right texture and which wasn't going to mould over time.
For all acrylic based paintings and sculptures I use only quality acrylics and varnish; mostly Amsterdam / Expert acrylics from Royal Talens the Netherlands and Liquitex varnishes used. Also for multi media and/or water color paintings only high quality materials are used such as Van Gogh & Rembrandt water colors and Derwent inktense pencils.
